Noida cop arrested for attempting to rape 6-year-old girl
In a shocking incident, a police constable in Greater Noida reportedly attempted to rape a six-year-old girl inside the city's Kulesara police outpost. The 48-year-old police constable named Narendra was in an inebriated state when he tried to assault the child before she managed to escape. He was arrested after angry locals in Kulasera gathered outside the police outpost demanding the same. Here's more.
Constable terminated, booked under non-bailable charges: Greater Noida SP
Superintendent of Police, Greater Noida (Rural), Suniti, said the accused, Narendra, was terminated from services immediately after the incident took place. She said the police constable was "booked under non-bailable charges," including POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act sections. This comes only days after a J&K special police officer was arrested for raping and killing an eight-year-old girl in Jammu's Kathua.
Constable took my daughter inside police outpost: Minor's father
According to the Noida minor girl's father, an auto-rickshaw driver, Narendra lured his six-year-old daughter to the Kulesara police outpost. He said the child got dressed for school by 7am and went to a nearby shop when the constable sitting near the outpost called her and took inside. Narendra then undressed the girl and tried to rape her but she resisted and escaped.
Cop stood outside girl's house, waiting for her
Though the girl managed to escape, Narendra kept chasing her and finally reached her house, claimed her father. The auto-rickshaw driver stated that the constable was drunk; he stood outside their house waiting for the girl. She saw her father in his auto nearby and ran towards him to narrate the incident. Her father tried to apprehend Narendra but he fled from the spot.
Narendra posted at Kulesara for 4 years
The minor girl's family, which hails from Azamgarh, has been living in Greater Noida's Kulesara for the past 12 years. The constable, Narendra from Meerut's Partapur with a service period of 27 years, was posted at Kulesara for the last four years.
Constable found in drunken state: Police officer
Greater Noida's Gautam Budh Nagar police confirmed Narendra was the only policeman at Kulesara outpost in the morning. Kulesara Outpost In-charge, Harvir Singh, stated five or six policemen are usually deployed at the outpost but today they were sent for board examination security. Eco Tech-III SHO KK Rana stated: "Narendra was arrested under one hour...by our team. He was found in a drunken state."
