People of UP no longer want Aurangzeb's government, says Adityanath
While campaigning for Gorakhpur bypolls, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath likened the previous Samajwadi Party government to Mughal dynastic rule. During a public meeting in Unwal area to promote BJP candidate Upendra Datt Shukla, he said, "People have decided that they want good governance and development. They don't want to see Aurangzeb's government in the state," reported Hindustan Times. Read on for more.
'Bicycle cannot move ahead with an elephant on it'
Calling the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) alliance opportunistic and nepotistic, Adityanath lambasted the Akhilesh Yadav-led SP for not fielding its own party candidates for Gorakhpur-Phulpur bypolls, and then seeking support from the BSP when it couldn't stand on its own. "People know that bicycle (SP's party symbol) cannot move ahead with an elephant (BSP's party symbol) on it," he said.
BJP lets its own workers contest elections, says Adityanath
During the rally, Yogi also pointed out "the basic difference between the BJP and other parties," saying that it didn't "import candidates from outside," like others. Announcing that UP had shunned dynastic/family politics, he urged all to vote decisively after weighing in BJP's work in the last four years of Modi rule and under him in the past 11 months.
Previous governments promoted hooliganism, alleges Yogi
The CM also alleged that the previous governments promoted loot, hooliganism and made all sections of the society, including women, youths, farmers and traders, insecure. He added his rule had ushered in peace in UP by cracking down on criminals and putting them behind bars.
