Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday extended his best wishes to the countrymen on the occasion of Hindi Diwas.
In his message, he emphasized that Hindi is a friend to all Indian languages, and they complement one another.
"I can say with certainty that there is no competition between Hindi and any...language. Hindi is a friend of all..Whether it is Gujarati, Marathi or Telugu, every language gives strength to Hindi and Hindi gives strength to every language," he stated.

The home minister also pointed out that prominent figures in the Hindi movement such as Rajagopalachari ji, Mahatma Gandhi and others hailed from non-Hindi speaking areas.
Shah praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts over the past decade to strengthen Hindi and local languages.
He mentioned that PM Modi has proudly addressed many international forums in Hindi, highlighting its importance not only in India but across the world.

"In these 10 years, we have made a lot of efforts to strengthen several Indian languages," he said.
Furthermore, Shah announced that a new portal is being developed by the Department of Official Language for translation from Hindi to all the languages listed in the Eighth Schedule.
This portal will use Artificial Intelligence to translate any letter or speech into all languages in a very short time.
He believes that this will greatly strengthen Hindi and local languages.
