Bihar: Bolero tries to avoid hitting woman, crushes nine children
At least nine students were crushed to death on the National Highway 77 in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, when a speeding Bolero ran into them. The toll could go up as at least six others are critical. The site was a gruesome scene with body parts and blood all over. Tragically, the Bolero hit the children while trying to avoid another injured woman on the road.
Accident happened amid commotion after a truck hit a woman
The mishap happened when the students of Dharampur Government Middle School were trying to cross the highway after school. There was a commotion as a truck had hit a woman. People ran to her rescue. In the meantime, the Bolero speeding from the opposite direction swerved to avoid the injured woman, but ran into the children lined up beside the road, a witness recounted.

Chaotic scenes unfolded at the accident site and the Sri Krishna Memorial College and Hospital, where bodies piled up, injured children writhed in pain and grief-stricken parents cried aloud. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has announced compensation of Rs. 4L to the families of the deceased. Meanwhile, search is on for the Bolero driver who abandoned the SUV and fled.
