Nigerian nationals attack Bengaluru cops with rods during drug raid
In a shocking turn of events, officers from the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru were reportedly assaulted by a group of Nigerian nationals during a raid. The officials had gone to raid a residence after being tipped off about drug consumption. However, upon their arrival, they were met with an onslaught of iron rods, stones, and helmets.
Assault initiated during drug raid
CCTV footage captured the incident where CCB Inspector Subramanya Swamy and five other officers sustained severe injuries as they attempted to apprehend the assailants. In response to this unexpected aggression, Swamy and his team promptly called for additional police support. The police officers who arrived as backups also met a similar fate as the Nigerian nationals vandalized their police vehicle and shattered its windows. The injured officers are receiving treatment at a private hospital.
Attackers were waiting in advance
According to Mallikarjun Baladandi, SP of Bengaluru Rural District, the police team was overwhelmed by approximately 10 individuals who had gathered after receiving a WhatsApp voice note from one of the suspects. The Rajanukunte Police have registered a case and are currently pursuing the assailants who managed to escape. Earlier this month, CCB detectives arrested an African national from Bagalagunte and confiscated 4kg of MDMA crystals worth ₹4 crore from his residence.
