And, just like that NewsBytes turns 3!
I blinked and, just like that, NewsBytes turned 3. If it was a dream then, it is a rocketship now. A rocketship that is made of sweat, tears, blood, content and technology. And, each one of us is a co-pilot. The journey has been excruciating, but I can't be ungrateful and cribbing. As I reflect, I know it was all worth it, a million times and more. In these 3 years, here's what we all learnt.
Everyone judges you, and you can't please everyone
Neither are we writing content for ourselves, nor have we ever tried to please anyone. Our ideology is logic. Left, right and center are merely geometrical terms for us. But, we are now wiser to know - even impeccable logic would hurt some people, and we are ready for that. A bad review here, an angry tweet there doesn't bother us anymore. With our blinkers on, we tried to educate, inform and entertain our readers. And, we want to keep doing just that.
A news company needs no marketing
Three years into this business and I say this with extreme pride - NewsBytes has not spent a penny in acquiring users. We never have, and we never will. A news company making noise for itself is akin to my mother asking me cooking tips. She doesn't have to, it comes 'organically' to her. Our lesson in marketing is - we need no marketing. We need right content and hard-hitting data. We are a data-informed company, we want to be data-driven this year.
Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence
If you have followed our trajectory, you would know how much we love technology. That's our DNA. After endless fights, tears and countless shouting matches, what we have built from tech perspective is just the tip of the iceberg. Till now, we have played with Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and bots. We now are ushering into a beautiful world, where bots will write our content.
About time we stop cracking offensive jokes
A company, that was limited to a 3BHK in Gurgaon till now, has outgrown itself. The place, we have all been fondly calling home for 3 years, has fallen short of our requirements. It is a bittersweet feeling. But, we now know we have to become HR-ready. People won't work for 7 days a week, and we need a leave policy sooner than later. Note to self: I have to stop cracking offensive jokes.
Life is a play of chance in game of choice
Three years back when we took this plunge, we knew nothing. At best, we were just half prepared about the struggle. What has unfolded is overwhelming! From hereon, I don't seek 'peace of mind', I rather seek 'peace from mind'. I don't want to know all the answers, and I am just half-prepared for what will come our way. Life is, after all, a play of chance in the game of choice.
Shout-out to the best team
This one is personal, sappy and cliche. I must take this opportunity to thank everyone here- our readers, parents, investors, critics, siblings, friends. But, most of all, NewsBytes's team. "And I need you now tonight, And I need you more than ever. And we'll only be making it right, 'Cause we'll never be wrong together."
