Army jawan, who recently got married, martyred in J&K encounter
A newly married army jawan was today martyred while foiling an infiltration bid in Gurez sector in Jammu and Kashmir near the Line of Control (LOC), officials said. 26-year-old lance naik, Vikramjeet Singh, a resident of village Tepla in Ambala, Haryana had tied the knot a few months ago. His body will reach the Ambala Cantt Air Force station on Wednesday, they added.
Singh's father is a farmer while brother is in army
Singh was among the team of soldiers who challenged a group of intruders in Gurez valley this morning. Singh's father Baljinder is a farmer in the village situated around 10 km from Ambala Cantt while, his younger brother is also serving in the army. Additional Deputy Commissioner Ambala, Shakti Singh, visited the residence of the martyr to console his bereaved family.
Singh's remains to be cremated at his village
The mortal remains of Vikramjeet Singh will be cremated at his native village with full state honors, an official said.
