16 places raided in Delhi, UP; new ISIS-linked group found
On Wednesday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out searches in 16 locations across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, in connection with its probe on a new ISIS-linked group in India. While the raids started early morning, and are still underway, it's understood that five people have been arrested in connection with the ISIS module. Here's what we know.
What we know about the raids so far
The terror group being probed is a new ISIS module named 'Harkat-ul-Harb-e-Islam'. While details were sparse at the time of writing, the General of Police of UP's Anti-Terrorist Squad, Asim Arun, confirmed to HT that five people had been arrested - one from a madrasa in Amroha; four from other places. Meanwhile, another official confirmed that explosive material had been recovered from those arrested.

Till December 2017, 103 people with ISIS links were arrested
A December 2017 report by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) revealed that the NIA had, till then, arrested as many as 103 people in India for having links to ISIS cells, or for being ISIS sympathizers. 17 arrests were made in UP.
