    What's the story

The HRD Ministry has formed a nine-member panel to work on a New Education Policy to transform school and higher education.

The new panel, headed by former ISRO chief Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, replaces an earlier one formed two years ago and led by former cabinet secretary TSR Subramanian.

Diversity is a key feature, with the government ensuring a range of ages and backgrounds among panelists.

    Process

HRD Ministry started the NEP process over 30 months ago

Over the last 30 months, the HRD ministry has held consultations with stakeholders on tehsil, district and state levels.

Opinions have been invited from education experts, teachers, students, the public and all concerned. Over 26,000 submitted suggestions on the MyGov platform. Even the Rajya Sabha held discussions.

All the inputs, including recommendations of the Subramaniam committee, will be taken into account.
