NEET-UG 2019 aspirants can now avail 10% EWS quota reservation
Aspirants seeking MBBS admission via the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-UG (NEET-UG) 2019 can avail 10% quota under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category. The EWS candidates will have to indicate the category at the time of counseling. Notably, NEET-UG was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 5 and on May 20 (only for Odisha, Siliguri, and Karnataka candidates). Here's more.
50 percentile must for seeking admission under EWS quota
According to the guidelines released by the Government of India, EWS category students will have to score a minimum of 50 percentile in NEET-UG to avail the quota. Thus, there is no need to make changes to the online application form. Moreover, a separate merit list will not be required for the students seeking admission under the EWS category.
Quota to be provided only against the increased seats
Aspirants must note that EWS quota is applicable only to the number of seats increased and not the existing seats. The increased intake capacity in MBBS colleges will be known by May 31 as it is the last date for granting them permission. Further, the counseling authorities will be identifying colleges provide EWS quota and then conduct the counseling under a separate category.
