Nearly 1.70 lakh registrations for the 60-day long Amarnath yatra
Over 1.70 lakh pilgrims have registered for the 60-day long pilgrimage to the cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas, set to begin from Jammu on June 28. Out of these, 1.39 lakh pilgrims have been registered across the country. The yatra will be 20 days longer this year and will end on Raksha Bandhan day on August 26.
Pilgrims below 13 years or above 75 not registered
The registration for the Amarnath yatra began on March 1. The registration is being done at 440 branches of the Punjab National Bank, the Jammu and Kashmir Bank, and the YES Bank across the country. Pilgrims below the age of 13 years or above 75 years are not registered even though he or she obtains the compulsory health certificate.
Obtaining helicopter tickets online formulated within Air Traffic Services Regulations
Advance online booking of helicopter tickets started from April 27. The standard operating procedures for the online booking of helicopter tickets have been formulated within the parameters of the Air Traffic Services Regulations. 28,516 pilgrims have been booked for helicopters. On-spot registration facility during Yatra period will be available at four places in Jammu-Vaishnavi Dham, Saraswati Dham, Jammu Haat, and Geeta Bhawan-Ram Mandir.
