Cabbie kills woman after she forces him to marry her
A 28-year-old taxi driver from Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, has been arrested for allegedly killing a woman after she pushed him to marry her, police said. The arrest followed the discovery of a woman's decayed body on April 25 in a dried-up rivulet at Talekhar along Chirner-Kharpada in the Uran area of Navi Mumbai. Authorities have sent the body for postmortem and registered a case against unidentified persons under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Police found information about a woman reported missing
A probe into the case by the police found that on April 18, a woman was reported missing from the Mankurd police station limits in nearby Mumbai. After cross-checking details, they confirmed that the deceased was indeed the missing woman from Mankurd. Further investigation revealed that the deceased woman had been in a romantic relationship with the taxi driver, a resident of Nagpada in Mumbai.
Woman had been in a romantic relationship with the driver
According to a police official, the woman was pressuring him to marry her, but he refused. This often led to a fight between the two. On the evening of April 18, the man picked up the woman in Mankhurd and drove her to Khadavli in Thane's Kalyan district. He allegedly killed her at 1:00am on April 19 and threw her body in the rivulet, the official added.
