Andhra: Naidu lays foundation stone for Renigunta airport runway expansion
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu laid the foundation stone for the extension of Renigunta airport runway in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, today. Addressing a gathering, he said once the runway expansion work gets completed, international flights can land here. Naidu also complimented Union Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu and his predecessor Ashok Gajapathi Raju for his contribution in the development of airports in the state.
Runways in Rajamundry, Vijayawada and Vizag airports also getting extended
Besides Renigunta, runways in Rajamundry, Vijayawada and Vishakhapatnam (Vizag) airports in Andhra Pradesh were also being expanded to enable landing of big aircraft, the vice president said. Prabhu, through video conference, spoke about several airport expansion works being carried out in the state.
Need for public-private partnership to speed up country's welfare: Naidu
Expressing his happiness over the 'Team-India' slogan given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Naidu said the parties in powers at the Center and states must keep their political differences aside to work a team for the all-round development of the country. The vice president also stressed on the need for public-private partnership to speed up the country's welfare.
Naidu to participate in local programs in Nellore district
After taking part in the program, Naidu left for his native neighboring Nellore district by a special train to participate in some local programs. He would return to Tirupati on February 23 and will fly back to New Delhi, said officials.
