
Nagpur violence: Woman cop molested, obscene gestures made at others
What's the story
An FIR has been lodged against a group of rioters in Nagpur's recent unrest for allegedly molesting a woman cop.
During the violence in Nagpur, the accused had inappropriately touched the Rapid Control Police (RCP) woman cop and yanked her uniform.
The officer immediately reported the misbehavior to senior officials, and a formal complaint was filed against those involved.

Rioters harassed other female police personnel
The rioters also allegedly passed lewd comments and gestures on-site, to intimidate the personnel on duty.
The FIR registered at Ganeshpeth police station stated that a mob of 200-300 people started stone-pelting in Hansapuri, with their faces covered.
Some officers were attacked with sharp weapons during the assault.
Five FIRs have been registered in Nagpur over the violence.

Nagpur violence: Over 50 people arrested, curfew imposed
More than 50 people have been arrested in relation to the stone-pelting and arson that occurred amid the unrest.
Curfew has been imposed in sensitive parts of Nagpur, including Kotwali, Ganeshpeth, Tehsil, Lakadganj, Pachpaoli, Shanti Nagar, Sakkardara, Nandanvan, Imambada, Yashodhara Nagar, and Kapil Nagar police station.
City police have said the situation is "under control" and "peaceful."

Nagpur violence: Maharashtra CM calls it a 'well-planned attack'
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has termed the Nagpur violence a "well-planned attack."
He said a rumor was spread that a symbolic grave was set on fire that had some religious content on it. Following this, 200-300 people started raising slogans and threatened to resort to violence, following which the police used mild force.
Fadnavis stressed law and order needs to be maintained, and assured strict action against anyone inciting riots, no matter their caste or religion.
