Muzaffarpur shelter-home case: SC terms CBI details as 'horrible', 'scary'

The Supreme Court termed the details placed before it by the CBI about the investigation into the case of Bihar's Muzzafarpur shelter home as "horrible" and "scary".
Several girls were allegedly raped and sexually abused in the shelter home.
A bench headed by Justice Madan B Lokur perused the status report by the CBI and said, "What is this going on? This is horrible."

The SC also took note of allegations referred by the CBI against shelter homeowner Brajesh Thakur and issued a notice to him to explain why he should not be transferred to a jail outside Bihar.
The CBI in its report had alleged that Thakur is an influential person and a mobile phone was recovered from him inside the jail where he is currently lodged.

The court also asked Bihar Police and CBI to explain the delay in tracing whereabouts of ex-Bihar Minister Manju Verma's husband, Chandrashekhar Verma.
It had asked Bihar Police to investigate the couple in connection with the recovery of huge quantity of ammunition from them.
It said the CBI team investigating the case shouldn't be changed and posted the matter for hearing on October 30.
