Muzaffarnagar: 75-year-old woman objects to less ration, beaten to death
A fair price shop owner in Muzaffarnagar allegedly thrashed a 75-year-old woman to death, after she objected to being given less ration. Cops said that the woman, Aasi, had gone to the shop at Firazabad village yesterday evening. When she was given less amount of ration, she protested. That was when the fair price shop owner, Naseem, confronted her and started beating her.
Two others accused as well, but no arrest made yet
The woman's son Bhura lodged a police complaint in which he mentioned that Naseem was accompanied by two others, Shamim and Janu. Cops said that no one has been detained yet. After the incident, the villagers staged a protest and refused to give the body for autopsy. However, tension soon subsided and the body was later sent for post-mortem, cops said.
Last month, UP man thrashed his wife on Panchayat's order
Just last month, a 28-year-old married woman, who had reportedly eloped with a youth, was publicly flogged on the orders of a Panchayat in UP. The incident took place on March 20 and it came to light after a video of her being beaten in full public-view went viral. Three, including her husband, were arrested and a case has been registered against seven.
