Muzaffarnagar: Sexual-harassment of minor Dalit girl triggers clashes, 1 held
One person has been arrested and six others booked after clashes broke out between two groups in Aterna village (Muzaffarnagar) over the alleged sexual harassment of a minor Dalit girl, police said today. The clashes broke out yesterday evening after a five-year-old girl was allegedly sexually harassed by a villager. Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, they added.
When confronted, accused hurled stones at the victim's family
Security has been tightened and extra police personnel deployed in the village. Cops said clashes might have ensued when the girl's family went to confront the accused and they retaliated by hurling stones at them. One Amit Kumar (25) was injured in the stone-pelting and taken to hospital. A case has been registered under different IPC sections, POCSO and SCST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
