Mumbai: 2 'missing' children found dead inside car
Two children from Mumbai were found lifeless inside a locked car at Antop Hill, a neighborhood located east of the Harbour railway line. The victims, identified as Muskan Mohabbat Shaikh (5) and Sajid Mohammed Shaikh (7) were last seen playing near their homes close to where the car was parked. The police have suggested suffocation as the probable cause of death, as there were no injury marks discovered on their bodies.
Children were found unconscious in the car
The incident came to light after a passerby noticed the children unconscious in the vehicle. The car was found sealed from the inside, leading investigators to believe that the children were unable to escape. An official commented that the kids were suffocated to death as they were locked inside the car. Despite immediate rescue attempts and rushing them to a nearby hospital, medical professionals declared them deceased upon arrival.
CCTV footage being examined, accidental death case registered
The police are now examining CCTV footage from cameras in the vicinity to gather more information about this tragic event. An accidental death case has been registered as investigations continue. The parents of the Shaikh children had lodged a missing complaint at the Antop Hill police station when they didn't return home by evening. Tragically, the discovery was made after several hours of extensive searching by their worried parents and local authorities.
