Mumbai Monorail to get five new rakes by next year
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is going to acquire five new Monorail rakes having four swanky, comfortable coaches each by the end of 2018. Passengers on the 8.9km-long Chembur-Wadala line have been complaining of a bumpy ride every time the Monorail maneuvers or halts at stations. So, new rakes that promise lesser jerks have reportedly been designed.
What is MMRDA's take?
"We have received the new designs from Scomi. The new design is ergonomically (comfort level) better. It has better aesthetics inside (the coaches) and passengers can expect a comfortable ride," said Sanjay Khandare, additional metropolitan commissioner, MMRDA.
