Fire breaks out in Mumbai's Pydhonie area, no casualties reported
What's the story
A major fire broke out in a ground-plus-three storey building at Pydhonie in South Mumbai during wee hours on Friday. However, no casualties were reported.
Fourteen fire-tenders and 10 water-tankers were pressed into service to douse the fire, a senior civic official said.
The blaze, which started around 1 am at the commercial-cum-residential property partly made of wood, was doused at 8 am today.
Reason of fire
Fire could be triggered due to LPG cylinder blast
"Our control room received a call at 1.20 am about flames emanating from second and third floors of the building," the official said, adding eight people were rescued.
But operations were hindered as the building was situated in a congested lane.
Fire officials said the blaze could have broken out due to LPG-cylinder blast, but the exact cause will be confirmed after investigation.
