Jabalpur: Thief swallows stolen jewellery, cops make him undergo surgery
In Madhya Pradesh, cops went an extra mile to revive stolen jewellery from thieves; they made a man undergo surgery after he swallowed the item. Two men, riding on a bike, stole mangalsutra of 70-year-old Kalavati Yadav as she laid on a bed in the courtyard of her Jabalpur home. The robbery happened on Wednesday, and the police swung to action soon.
Just before he was arrested, thief swallowed necklace
The thieves were 20-year-old Suraj Dumar and 25-year-old Raju Thapa. They were traced soon after the complaint was lodged. In an attempt to save himself, Dumar swallowed the necklace, moments before he was arrested. An X-ray at Subash Chandra Bose Medical College revealed the necklace was stuck in Dumar's guts. The police then decided to have him undergo a surgery.
Police team, who nabbed accused, was rewarded by district SP
ASP Deepak Kumar Shukla said doctors informed them the endoscopic surgery won't take long and would be safe. So, on Thursday, Dumar underwent the surgery and the police recovered the stolen item. They are also questioning the duo to learn about other loots. Shashikant Shukla, district superintendent of police, rewarded the team who nabbed the accused and procured the evidence with Rs. 10,000.
Madhya Pradesh police's idea was cleaner than their Mumbai counterparts
In 2016, when Mumbai police faced a similar situation, they made the thief eat four dozen bananas. The disgusting part was they waited for two days for the stolen gold chain to leave the thief's system. In MP, a cleaner route was taken, thankfully!
