Now, MP schools will teach about Atal Bihari Vajpayee
On Saturday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that the life of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee would be made a part of the school curriculum from the next academic session. Announcing a slew of measures to keep his memory alive, Chouhan added that Vajpayee's 'Asthi Kalash Yatra' would also touch all gram panchayats in the state. Here's more.
MP CM Chouhan announces Rs. 5 lakh awards, two memorials
Apart from announcing the addition to school curricula, Chouhan said that three awards of Rs. 5 lakh each would also be given in the fields of poetry, journalism, and good administration to keep Vajpayee's memory alive. Further, the state government will also construct two memorials in Gwalior and Bhopal where Vajpayee's deeds, speeches, and important decisions will be recounted for people to remember.
Other measures announced by the MP state government
The state government also said that the Gorkhi Government School, where Vajpayee studied, would be developed into an institute of excellence with smart classrooms, a planetarium, and a museum. All smart cities of the state are to have libraries named after Vajpayee. Additionally, the Global Skill park, four Shramoday Schools, and the Vidisha Medical College will also be named after him.
The MP government's plans for Vajpayee's 'Asthi Kalash Yatra'
As part of the 'Asthi Kalash Yatra', Vajpayee's ashes would be immersed in all prominent rivers of MP. Additionally, condolence meetings will be held in all district headquarters from August 22-25, and in all gram panchayats and development blocks from August 25-30.
