Man booked for death threats to collector, offensive-comments against Rajnath
What's the story
A man in MP's Betul has been booked for allegedly issuing death threats to the district collector on Facebook and posting objectionable comments against Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Nimish Sariyam demanded that Collector Shashank Mishra take action against a legislator for abusing caste status, otherwise he would kill Mishra as well as himself.
Sariyam has been booked for threats and criminal intimidation, among others.
Demand
The MP had allegedly submitted fake caste certificate
Sariyam's demand was concerning Jyoti Dhurve, Betul MP, who had initially claimed she's a tribal.
She got into trouble when Late Ojha Ram Ivane of Congress, who Dhurve defeated in 2009, filed a complaint, alleging she didn't belong to the Gond tribe as she had submitted.
In April'17, a scrutiny committee scrapped her caste certificate.
Apart fromDhurve's imprisonment, Sariyam demanded rights for "genuine tribal."
Action
Sariyam charged with various sections, but not arrested yet
On Facebook, Sariyam warned Tuesday he would carry out his threats within a month if there was no action.
An FIR was registered yesterday evening after discussions between administrative and police officials.
He has now been charged with relevant sections under the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act.
However, he hasn't been arrested till this afternoon.
