Mumbai: Mother strangles teenage daughter suspecting sexual-relationship with father
In a disturbing incident, a 36-year-old woman in an upscale society in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, strangled her 16-year-old daughter to death with a dupatta. This, because she suspected the teenager to be sexually involved with her father. Police haven't been able to validate her claims yet. The woman has been arrested. Cops are probing the crime, including if the father was abusing the girl.
Mother killed daughter, then told husband she was unwell
The incident took place on March 4, when the mother-daughter duo was alone at home. She strangled her daughter with a dupatta, then called her husband to say the girl was unwell. But when he reached home, he found her dead. Meanwhile, neighbors had called police, who saw marks on her neck, but registered a case of accidental death as they had no evidence.
Police examining father's role in the crime
After post mortem, the couple then went to their native place in Rajasthan to conduct their daughter's final rites. In the meantime, police received the medical report confirming strangulation as cause of death. When the couple returned to Navi Mumbai, they were summoned for questioning. The mother confessed. Police are now talking to the victim's classmates and neighbors to find more details.
