IMD forecasts weather conditions for Delhi, Bengaluru, other cities
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather forecast for several major cities in India, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. Delhi will likely see partly overcast skies with thunderstorms, very light rainfall, and gusty gusts on Sunday. The city's maximum temperature is expected to be around 43 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 29 degrees Celsius. The weather in the national capital is expected to remain unchanged for the next seven days.
Heavy rainfall predicted for Chennai and West Bengal
Bengaluru is set to experience heavy rainfall due to the Southwest Monsoon's advancement in Karnataka. Meanwhile, Mumbai's weather will remain "partly cloudy" until June 5, with a wet spell expected on June 6. Chennai is set to experience heavy rains in the coming days, while Tamil Nadu will see thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds until June 8.
Delhi's heatwave conditions expected to improve
Similarly, West Bengal is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall due to the southwest monsoon until June 8. The weather in West Bengal on Sunday will remain "partly cloudy with the possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm." Thunderstorms are predicted from June 3 to June 5. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) is very likely over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada from June 2 to June 5.
Rain in Northeast India
The IMD has also issued an orange alert for heavy rains in several northeastern states on Sunday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Manipur. Thunderstorms with light to moderate showers, lightning, and gusty gusts are expected in these regions until June 8. Whereas, Haryana and Punjab are likely to have heatwave to severe heatwave conditions on Sunday.
