TikTok's new challenge, #MonkeyFace, takes over social media
We live in an era where anything bizarre and weird can catch the attention of netizens and within seconds, it can start trending. Over the past few months, TikTok, the famous video app, has been a major producer of this type of viral content. Like all its previous challenges, its recent #MonkeyFace challenge is now picking up steam on various social media platforms.

The challenge is as clear as its name. TikTok users are simply to use the 'monkey face' filter, and lip sync on various songs. In most of these trending videos, one person is usually seen playing a prank on the other. Like, this girl puts the monkey filter on a little girl's face, probably her sister's, annoying the latter, who starts beating her up!

Several other challenges had taken over Internet in the past
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that a bizarre challenge like this, started on TikTok, has got all the users hooked to social media. A few days ago #HornChallenge and #Ahchoo challenge had gone viral. While the #HornChallenge involved pressing the face of others like a horn, in #Ahchoo, people were transporting themselves from one place to another in just a sneeze.

Several people have even tried #HornChallenge with their pets
#Orangeface: Users literally replaced their faces with an orange
Apart from these, another recent challenge included the #Orangeface challenge, where one's face was literally replaced with an orange. While some users were seen talking on their social media pages with an orange face, some made random videos with the filter on.

Meanwhile, a 12-year-old lost his life to a TikTok challenge
However, there are some, especially teenagers, who take TikTok challenges rather seriously. Like, last month, a 12-year-old from Kota, Rajasthan, lost his life while doing a TikTok challenge. He allegedly hung himself in the bathroom wearing mangalsutra (sacred thread worn by married Hindu women) and bangles, all apparently part of TikTok's rules. As per his father, his son "was using TikTok the entire night."
