Mohammed Shami injured in a road accident on Dehradun-Delhi journey
Mohammed Shami, who has been involved in a bitter public spat with wife Hasin Jahan, was injured in a road accident today. The cricketer was on his way from Dehradun to Delhi when the mishap happened. There was no major injury, but he got stitches on his head, reports said. Shami was practising in Dehradun's Abhimanyu Cricket Academy after 15 days of "mental torture."
Wife accuses Shami of adultery, torture, domestic violence
Shami has been in the news since Jahan accused him of adultery and physical torture earlier this month. His family, including his mother and brother, apparently abused her and "even wanted to kill me." Shami denied the allegations, accusing Jahan of trying to sabotage his career. But police charged him with serious crimes, including attempt to murder, after she filed a complaint.
Match-fixing allegations emerge, but BCCI clears Shami
Jahan also accused him of match-fixing. This surfaced after she released an audio clip of her conversation with Shami regarding a Pakistani woman, and he claimed he had met her only to take money from her. Shami had denied the claims, but BCCI put his annual contract on hold. Three days ago, it cleared him of match-fixing charges and awarded him the Grade-B contract.
Shami had started training on Friday, now back to resting
He then turned to the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy, run by Bengal batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran's father, to "rejuvenate" himself. "He trained for more than an hour on Friday and is expected to leave for Delhi on Sunday," coach Manoj Rawat had said. But on the way back, his car reportedly collided with a truck. He is now resting in Dehradun.
