PM Modi invites youngsters to participate in Swachh Bharat internship
On the 43rd edition of 'Mann Ki Baat,' PM Narendra Modi urged students to join the government's new Swachh Bharat summer internship program. "Summer internship is a new experience in itself. Out of the four walls, paper-pens have the opportunity to experience a new way of life away from the computer," he said. He also asked citizens to focus on water conservation this summer.
All about the government's new Swachh Bharat summer internship
The HRD has launched the Swachh Bharat summer internship for college students across India. Registrations are open till May 15. The internship requires participating students to give at least 100 hours to rural sanitation during May 1-July 31. On successful completion, participants will get certificates and curriculum-credits, and if they're adjudged among the best interns, they can get cash-awards of up to Rs. 2L.

Inviting students, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and other youngsters to join the program, Modi said, "This is an opportunity for those young people who wish to contribute to the country, bring about a change in society and learn something in the process."
Modi bats for Fit India, urges people to take-up yoga
On his radio program, Modi also talked about the success of his 'Fit India' campaign, acknowledging actor Akshay Kumar's contribution to the cause. He urged people to celebrate the upcoming International Yoga Day (June 21) by taking up yoga. Modi applauded players of 71 countries for their participation in the Common Wealth Games in Australia, especially lauding India's women athletes.
Amid looming crisis, PM Modi wants people to conserve water
Talking about the need for water-conservation, Modi reminded people about India's traditional water harvesting systems. "Budget under MNREGA is also utilized for water conservation activity," he said. "An average of Rs. 32,000cr have been spent besides MNREGA budget every year on water conservation and management." He added that thousands of MNREGA workers had worked hard for 70 days to successfully revive the Kuttumperoor river.
PM extends Ramzan wishes to Indians
PM Modi also extended Ramzan wished to all citizens. "This is the opportunity to remember the Prophet Mohammad's teachings and his message. Moving from their lives on the path to equality and brotherhood it creates our responsibility," he said.
