Mizoram: Policemen back from Assam poll duty test COVID-19 positive
Twelve policemen, who returned from Assam after election duty, and seven children were among the 36 newly infected people in Mizoram. On Friday, 36 new COVID-19 cases took the tally to 4,558. Seventeen of the new cases were reported from the Aizawl district, 12 from Kolasib district, four from Champhai, two from Lunglei district, and one case was detected in the Serchhip district.
4,454 have recovered from COVID-19 in Mizoram
Out of the 36 new patients, 23 people had returned from different states. Eighteen patients have symptoms of COVID-19, while the rest are asymptomatic. Mizoram now has 93 active cases, while 4,454 people have recovered from the infection. The COVID-19 death toll in the state is 11. The state has tested 2,59,943 samples to date, including 1,388 on Thursday.
More than 20K people have completed the vaccination
According to state immunization officer Dr. Lalzawmi, 64,399 people have been administered the first dose of COVID-19, of whom 20,287 people have completed the vaccination process after receiving the second dose. All across India, nearly 80 million doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered so far. More than 60 million people have received one dose, and over 10 million people have been fully vaccinated.
India's current COVID-19 tally stands at 1.30 crore
In the last 24 hours, India reported a massive hike in COVID-19 cases with 1,31,968 cases being detected, taking the tally to 1,30,60,542. India is now the fourth worst-hit country in terms of active cases. According to the total cases, Maharashtra (32,29,547), Kerala (11,44,594), Karnataka (10,33,560), Andhra Pradesh (9,13,274), and Tamil Nadu (9,11,110) are the five most affected states in the country.
