Mizoram: 6-year-old rushes chicken to hospital after accidentally killing it
A six-year-old from Sairang, Mizoram, won hearts recently for his act of compassion towards a dead chick. Derek C Lalchhanhima had accidentally run over the bird with his bicycle, and in guilt, rushed it to a hospital, Rs. 10 note in hand. A nurse present at the hospital clicked the picture and a Facebook user by the name of Sanga Says shared it online.
Derek's picture garnered 126,000 likes, got commented over 10,000 times
Derek's father sent the picture to Sanga and after the latter posted it on Facebook, it soon went viral. The picture garnered 126,000 likes, 11,000 comments and 87,000 shares. People started writing comments about how this kid's generous act left them in tears.

Derek returned from hospital, wanted Rs. 100 for chick's treatment
Sanga, while talking to NDTV, said that after the accident, Derek ran home, begging his parents to help the poor chick. "He didn't understand that it's dead. His father told him to go himself, which he did with Rs. 10," he added. After some time, Derek returned home from the hospital, crying. He wanted to return there with Rs. 100 and help the chick.

"His parents finally had to explain to him that the chick is dead and that there's nothing they can do at the hospital," Sanga said. Derek's act of kindness not only won over the Internet, but also got recognized by his school.
Not just Internet, Derek's school also rewarded his kind act
Derek's school, St. Pio in Sairang, rewarding his act of kindness, felicitated him with a certificate of appreciation and a shawl that was draped on his school uniform. His father, Dhiraj Chhetri, a cop posted in Sairang, was impressed by his son's compassionate nature as well, said Sanga. However, he said, "He has always been a rather unique kid."
