MP: 14-year-old gangraped repeatedly, cops clueless till she gets abortion
In a brutal tale of torture, five men in Jabalpur, MP, gangraped their 14-year-old cook repeatedly for two months. The incident came to light only after she approached a doctor to get an abortion. Police have arrested three of the accused. A hunt is also on for the doctor, as it's a crime to terminate the pregnancy of a rape victim without legal sanction.
The girl used to cook for two of the accused
The girl, whose father and brother are daily-wagers, lived in a slum in Gorakhpur area. Since some time, she had been cooking food for two of the accused. But the five would "take her home and gangrape her repeatedly," police said. Last night, her parents informed cops "after the news spread that the girl underwent an abortion two days ago," said SP Arjun Uike.
Police on the lookout for two accused and the doctor
Saurabh Chakravarty, Honey Chakravarty and Pramod Chakravarty have been arrested, while Rahul Chakravarty and Bantu Sonker are on the run. All are aged 18-21. A case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO. Uike said they are also looking out for the doctor, who will be arrested for conducting an abortion on the minor victim.
