Minor gangraped at Dehradun ISBT found pregnant after medical examination
The ongoing investigation into the alleged gang-rape of a 16-year-old girl at Dehradun's Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) has revealed that the minor survivor was pregnant at the time of the incident. Survivor reveals previous assault, authorities respond
The survivor also disclosed that she had been raped previously in her home district of Moradabad. Following this revelation, Dehradun police registered a Zero FIR under rape charges against unidentified individuals at Patel Nagar police station on Thursday night. Khanna stated, "We are taking all necessary measures to support her in accordance with the law."
Hospital's handling of case draws criticism
Khanna also expressed disappointment over the handling of the teen's case at Coronation Hospital in Dehradun, citing a "lack of urgency." She said, "The authorities were not handling the case with the urgency that it required. Coronation hospital should now learn to handle such cases rather than depending upon Doon Medical College." In response, Dr. VS Chauhan, chief medical superintendent of Coronation Hospital, defended their actions by stating that they prioritized the girl's safety due to potential complications.
Police conclude questioning of five accused
The city police have completed their questioning of the five accused, including three drivers of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) busses. SHO Krishna Kumar Lunthi stated, "In order to recreate the crime sequence, two of the accused were taken to Delhi's Kashmere Gate ISBT from where they had brought the girl to Dehradun ISBT." The five suspects were returned to jail after a two-day remand ended on Saturday.
Incident took place on August 12
The five accused were arrested last week. The victim, who is mentally unstable, was discovered alone late at night on a bench at the Dehradun ISBT. She initially told the police that she is an orphan from Punjab, but later revealed information about her family. She also disclosed that she is a resident of Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh and had first traveled to Delhi before taking a bus to Dehradun, where the alleged rape occurred.
