#MuzaffarpurRapes: Minister's husband frequented shelter-home, alleges arrested official's wife
On Wednesday, the wife of an arrested official has claimed her husband is being wrongfully framed to protect a state minister's spouse in the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape cases. Shiva Kumari Singh, wife of child protection officer Ravi Kumar Raushan, said the husband of Kumari Manju Verma, Chandeshwar Verma, spent hours at the shelter home. The lawmaker and her husband have denied the allegations.
Minister's husband spent hours in girl's room: Shiva Kumari
Shiva Kumari Singh alleged Chandeshwar Verma spent hours in the girls' rooms and used to make them sit on floors. She maintained her husband was doing his job dutifully and wanted better infrastructure and CCTV cameras installed. Defending her husband, Kumari Manju, (state social welfare department minister) said people were playing petty politics, and it was her department that unearthed the scandal.
The allegations are politically motivated, says minister
"Nearly a month has passed since the official was arrested and the allegation has been made only now, on a day when the leader of the opposition in the assembly Tejashwi Yadav visited the town," Kumari Manju said hinting at a political campaign.
Incidentally, victims told police about pot-bellied 'netaji' who abused them
It should be noted that the victims, living inside the shelter house, told authorities about a pot-bellied politician and a mustachioed man, who frequently visited to sexually abuse them. Chandeshwar Verma denied the allegations and said he visited the house only once in two years, that too after his wife became a minister. But Shiva Kumari stood her ground and said she had evidence.
Backstory: Inside shelter home, girls were raped, beaten and killed
