Merchant Navy killed by wife, lover; body chopped and cemented
What's the story
A Merchant Navy officer from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh was allegedly killed by his wife and her paramour days after he returned to India to celebrate the birthday of his daughter.
During interrogation, the wife, Muskan, and her lover, Sahil, confessed to stabbing Saurabh Rajput to death on March 4.
They then chopped up his body into 15 pieces, stuffed the remains in a plastic drum, and filled it with cement to hide the crime.
Confession
Suspects confess to murder, body disposal
To avoid raising suspicions from neighbors, Muskan reportedly went on vacation with Sahil after the murder.
There, using Saurabh's phone, they began uploading photos to his social media accounts. However, after Saurabh did not answer his family members' calls for several days, they filed a police report.
Police took Muskan and Sahil into custody, who then took them to the house where Saurabh's body was concealed, NDTV reported.
Recovery
Couple had love marriage
Rajput and Muskan got married in 2016. After the wedding, Saurabh left his job in the Merchant Navy to spend time with his wife.
However, his family was not amenable to his sudden decision to leave his job and his love marriage. This resulted in domestic strife, prompting Saurabh to relocate to a rented residence.
In 2019, they welcomed a daughter, but the joy was short-lived when Saurabh discovered that Muskan was having an affair with his friend Sahil.

2 accused in police custody
Keeping the future of his daughter in mind, he decided to rejoin the Merchant Navy and left the country in 2023.
On February 24, he returned home to celebrate his daughter's birthday. But on the night of March 4, Muskan put sleeping pills into Saurabh's food and he was asleep, she and Sahil murdered him.
Investigators believe they killed Saurabh before leaving for the trip.
"We have taken the two in custody," Meerut City police chief Ayush Vikram Singh said.
