SC takes a stand against 'cow vigilantism' incidents
In this case, the two were stealing, but there has been a rise in incidents of violent 'cow vigilantism' acts.
A petition in the SC said the "menace" is spreading communal disharmony. It said such groups should be regulated and banned.
The SC had directed the Centre and states to take action against such acts by the public.
