ICAI CA results out; Kota tailor's son tops in first-attempt
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has declared the results of CA Final, Foundation, and Common Proficiency Test (CPT) exams held in November and December last year. Shadab Hussain, a resident of Rajasthan's Kota and the son of a tailor, has topped the CA Final exam (old syllabus) by scoring 597/800 marks or 74.63%. Here's more about the CA Final topper.
A little about the topper, Shadab Hussain
Shadab Hussain has pursued Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) from Kota University. While his father is a tailor, who could study only till Class 10, Hussain's mother is a school dropout. Though his parents couldn't get a proper education, they worked hard to ensure that Hussain got proper schooling. "This is the biggest achievement in my family," Hussain said after the CA results were declared.
What does Shadab Hussain have to say?
"I studied day-and-night to earn a job so that my parents do not have to bother about their old age," Hussain told Indian Express. "I thought of Chartered Accountancy (CA) to be a niche profession where one can learn throughout their life. After due consideration and research I set my mind to become a CA," the 23-year-old added.
How did Hussain prepare for the CA Final exam?
Hussain says that he devoted at least 13-14 hours a day to self-study while preparing for the exam. According to him, keeping the mind calm and analyzing what one has learned or studied is important to clear the CA exam. De-stressing is also essential, says the topper, who used to take 30-40 minutes of break after studying for three hours.
What does Hussain have to say on his exam strategy?
On his exam strategy, Hussain said that during the examination, he had gone through the question paper to identify 3-4 questions, which could help him score 40 marks, and answered them in an hour. In the next two hours, he solved the remaining questions to score more marks, which helped him improve his total score. "It gave me an edge over others," he said.
His advice to others: Half-an-hour of 'me time'
Hussain said, "I advise everyone to have at least half-an-hour of me-time. During this, one can think about the day... in retrospect. It would also help one manage time better...and gives the sense of pride and at the same time act as a quick revision."
