Medanta charges Rs. 16L for 21 days' dengue-treatment, kid died
In yet another case of overcharging by hospitals, Gurugram's Medanta Hospital has billed a whopping Rs.15.88L for the treatment of an eight-year-old dengue patient for 21 days. The boy's family alleged that Medanta referred him to another hospital after they paid the massive bill. The child, however, died later. The family lodged a complaint against Medanta at Gurugram's Sadar police station. Here's more!
Investigation is underway
The Gurugram Police PRO stated: "We received a complaint at Police Station Sadar yesterday. The complainant has leveled the allegation on Gurugram's Medanta Hospital." The police added that an investigation was underway.
Medanta looted us in name of treatment: Boy's father
The boy's father said his child was admitted to Medanta for 21 days; later, they were billed Rs. 15.88L. Medanta doctors felt the boy's condition was deteriorating and he cannot be kept there. They "pushed" his family to shift him to a government hospital. His father added, "We had to request people for money...the hospital has looted us in the name of treatment."
Dengue patient was referred to Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital
The boy's grieving father said: "My child was there in the hospital for 21 days. When the doctors at Medanta felt that the child's condition is such that he can no longer be kept there...they forced us to shift him to a Govt hospital."
