Mayo College student allegedly drugged, sodomized by seniors multiple times
A Class 11 student of Ajmer's reputed Mayo College was sodomized by six seniors multiple times last month, his father has alleged. During July 10-26, the accused Class 12 students forced him to get intoxicated several times and sodomized him in turns, the FIR states. "They threatened him of dire consequences if he reported it." Incidentally, the school management committee is a co-complainant.
'Force-fed alcohol and drugs, then took him to the washroom'
According to the FIR, "On July 10, the seniors barged into my son's room and forced him to drink alcohol and take drugs. They took him to the washroom later and sodomized him in turns." "Each time they abused my son, they forced him to take drugs." "He's under great distress and is deeply disturbed. This was his first year in the boarding school," it adds.
Accused booked under relevant sections of the POCSO Act
The complaint states that the abuse continued till July 26, when he left school and confessed to his parents about the trauma. Police have now registered a case against the six accused under relevant sections of the POCSO Act. Investigations are ongoing. The principal of Mayo College, Surendra Kulkarni, has refused to comment "at this juncture": "The police is investigating, let's wait for the findings."
Gender-neutral POCSO Act imposes strict punishment for minors' sexual abuse
Under the POCSO Act, penetrative sexual assault is punishable by not less than seven years in prison, extendable up to life. For non-penetrative assault, imprisonment cannot be less than three years, extendable up to five. The gender-neutral act defines such and more sexual crimes against children for the first time.
