Telangana: Blaze in firecracker manufacturing unit kills 10, injures 2
A massive blaze erupted at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Telangana's Warangal district today, killing at least 10 workers and wounding two others. The fire broke out around 11am in Kotilingala area on the outskirts of the Warangal city, officials said. Warangal (Rural) District Collector M Haritha, who is supervising the rescue efforts, said three of those dead were charred beyond recognition.
Investigations say blaze possibly caused by electric short-circuit
Haritha said the two wounded have been rushed to the hospital. She added that six fire tenders were pressed into service and the blaze has been extinguished. The bodies have been sent for postmortem and efforts are on to ascertain the identities of the deceased. Preliminary investigation suggested electrical short-circuit as the possible reason behind the blaze. A detailed probe is under way.
