UP: Bride's 'WhatsApp addiction' leads to marriage cancelation at last-minute
In a bizarre incident, a marriage was called off on the wedding day in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district because the bride spent too much time on WhatsApp. However, the bride's family has refuted these allegations and blamed the groom's family's demand for dowry for this. Bride's family alleges groom's kin demanded Rs. 65 lakh dowry
On Wednesday, the bride and her family were waiting for the groom and his relatives in their Naugaon Sadat village of the district. Upon calling the groom's family, the bride's family was told they are canceling the marriage because the girl spends too much time on WhatsApp. But the bride's family said the real reason was a dowry demand of Rs. 65 lakh.

Uroj Mehandi, the bride's father said his daughter's wedding was fixed to Qamar Haider's son of Fakeerpura. He said the marriage, scheduled for September 5, was called off over the phone. Meanwhile, Superintendent of police, Amroha, Vipin Tada said the groom's kin credited the WhatsApp addiction behind this step and claimed, she "was sending messages to her in-laws even before the wedding."
