Manushi Chhillar, Haryana CM announce free sanitary napkins for schoolgirls

Haryana government to spend Rs. 18 crore on free-sanitary-pads initiative
CM Khattar said that Manushi was working on Shakti, a women's menstruation project, long before she became an international sensation. The free-sanitary-pads initiative is likely to cost the Haryana government Rs. 18 crore. Manushi, who will be visiting four continents in the coming year to raise awareness about the issue, believes that along with education, women need a sustainable system to practise menstrual hygiene.
Manushi meets PM Modi; to spearhead fight against anaemia
Along with period awareness, Khattar wants Manushi to be the brand ambassador of the Haryana's fight against anaemia, a health condition that reportedly affects about 61% Indian girls. Manushi took to Twitter to express her happiness for being at the forefront of the initiative. The 20-year-old also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi with her family on Thursday.
