Manforce launches 'Achaari Masti', its pickle-flavoured condoms
For all those who swear by achaar, Manforce has just the thing for you. The condom company launched a new 'achaari' flavored condom. The launch of the "tangy and tantalizing" flavor was announced on Facebook endeavoring to make "your lovemaking to go Desi and Sexy". Time will tell if this pickle flavored condom will become popular in the crowded novelty condom market.
Achaari condoms: The internet can't stop laughing
As soon as the news of the launch became public, memes and comments flooded the internet. One tweet read: "You can also introduce Maggi flavored condoms. Students will be your biggest market then." Another said: "They can now call themselves Mastersafe India." Many others wondered if next offering from Manforce would be a chai-flavored or chaat flavored condom.
Not just Manforce, Durex too went experimental with flavors
Last year, Durex launched its 'Baingan' or eggplant flavored condom and drew an equal amount of ridicule on the internet.
Does India really want an 'achari' condom?
While at the surface it may seem that Manforce is out to woo its 2-tier, 3-tier city users with this colloquial flavor but do Indians even want it? Ad gurus believe that this is merely to make "news and draw attention to their business". Also, achaar or pickle might be to every Indian's liking, but it isn't synonymous with romance.
Globally too, condom flavours have tried to push the envelope
While we may laugh or cringe at the 'Achaari Masti' condoms, this isn't the first time condoms have taken their flavors too far. While flavors like strawberry and chocolate are common, many condoms are coffee flavored yet others take to whiskey and even cannabis. There also exist bacon flavored, aloe vera flavored and stinky garlic flavored condoms.
