Thank, Sansad Ji: BJP MLA tells Mandsaur rape victim's parents
In Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur, an eight-year-old was raped, a rod was inserted into her private parts and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan demanded a death sentence for the accused. But for a BJP MLA, it was more important that his party's MP received a 'thank-you' for paying a visit to the victim's parents. Clearly, the leaders sit on their high-horses and have other priorities.
As asked by BJP MLA, victim's parents thank MP
A video shows BJP MLA Sudarshan Gupta asking to thank Mandsaur-Neemuch BJP MP Sudhir Gupta for visiting Indore's MY Hospital, where the victim is undergoing treatment. "Say thank you to the MP (Sudhir Gupta). He has travelled only to meet you," Sudarshan reportedly said in the clip. The parents then followed the instructions and folded hands to 'thank' the 'Sansad Ji'
Thanks for what, asks Congress after video surfaces
The video prompted reactions from the opposition Congress with Mayank Aggarwal asking the BJP, "Thanks for what?" Further, Aggarwal said the ruling party should apologize by touching the feet of victim's family for not being able to protect their daughter. In the BJP's defense, Rahul Kothari said the conversation shouldn't be taken out of context. However, he agreed such statements could be avoided.
Rape of 8-year-old girl puts India to shame, again
Once again, India was shamed after the rape of the minor in Madhya Pradesh. The victim was waiting for her father after school when the prime accused Irfan Khan kidnapped her, took her to a secluded spot and raped her. His friend Asif also raped the girl. The victim, whose throat was slit, was found lying in a pool of blood.
