Lawyer, who murdered UP Bar Council's President, dies during treatment
Uttar Pradesh lawyer Manish Sharma, who killed the first female president of UP Bar Council on June 12, died on Saturday. After firing shots at Darvesh Yadav, Manish pumped bullets at himself. To recall, Yadav died soon after she was rushed to a hospital, while Manish underwent treatment. The cold-blooded murder in broad daylight at Agra civil court shocked everyone. Here's what went down.
Backstory: Yadav was celebrating her win, was shot dead
Yadav, who was a resident of Etah district, scripted history by winning polls just two days before her murder. On the fateful day, she visited Agra court to celebrate her victory. Her colleagues welcomed her with flowers and sweets. Yadav then went inside the chamber of senior lawyer Arvind Mishra, where Manish shot her. He fired four shots inside the chamber, revealed police.
Manish was put on ventilator, died on Saturday
Manish fired bullets at Yadav's head and stomach, before shooting himself. From Agra, he was referred to Gurugram's Medanta Hospital, where he was kept on a ventilator. His breathed his last this afternoon.
Manish and Yadav were fast friends but fell apart
What transpired the murder is something which the police can't seem to figure out. According to reports, Manish and Yadav were fast friends. They developed differences in the last couple of years, but no one imagined Manish would take the extreme step. Notably, the FIR, filed on basis of the complaint of Yadav's nephew Sunny, also hints at a personal grudge.
Apparently, Yadav and Manish had an argument before the murder
At the time of the incident, there were other people present inside Mishra's chamber, namely Yadav's relative Manoj Yadav and her niece Kanchan. Inside the closed doors, Yadav and Manish had an altercation. Soon things took a violent turn and Manish took out his licensed pistol. Yadav screamed at Manish, asking him to put the weapon away, but to no avail.
Reportedly, Yadav helped Manish but his wife threatened her
As per Sunny's complaint, his aunt helped Manish in his career. She also gave him car, money, and jewelry, which prompted his wife Vandana Sharma to give threat calls to Yadav. "His wife Vandana Sharma had earlier given life threats to my aunt over the phone and had told her not to ask Manish to give back her money, car, and jewelry," alleged Sunny.
Manish took over Yadav's chamber, claimed Sunny
"Also, Manish had illegally taken over my aunt's chamber. Ahead of the welcome function, lawyer Vineet Gulecha had bought Manish along so that they could execute their plan to kill my aunt," the FIR read.
Meanwhile, lawyer wants CBI to investigate the murder, approaches SC
Yadav's murder sent shockwaves in the law fraternity, prompting advocate Indu Kaul to approach the Supreme Court. Kaul has filed a PIL in the top court seeking a CBI probe into the murder. She has also asked the court to direct the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh to give compensation to Yadav's family. The matter will come up for hearing on June 25.
