Man to sue parents for giving birth without his consent
"I didn't ask to be born," if you have ever said these words to your parents out of spite, you will understand the emotions of Raphael Samuel from Mumbai. Raphael, 27, is planning to sue his parents because they didn't ask for his consent while giving him birth. He is part of an anti-natal movement called 'Voluntary Human Extinction Movement'. Here's his weird story.
'I love my parents and we have a great relationship'
However, Raphael, had said in an interview, "I love my parents, and we have a great relationship, but they had me for their joy and their pleasure." He went on saying that his life has been amazing but he doesn't see why he should put "another life through the rigmarole of school and finding a career, especially when they didn't ask to exist".
VHEM members give reasons why people should not create children
The VHEM or 'Stop Making Babies' movement seems to be growing in India and it urges people to seriously consider whether they want to bring a child into this world. Members of the movement told media a number of reasons why people should not create babies. Some of them include shunning 'societal norms' and that there are plenty of children waiting to be adopted.
Raphael's Facebook page has memes with common hashtag #parentsarehypocrites
Raphael also runs a Facebook page- Nihilanand, in which he shares memes which read, "A good parent puts the child above its wants and needs but the child itself is a want of the parent". Another one reads, "Isn't forcing a child into this world and then forcing it to have a career kidnapping and slavery?" The page uses a common hashtag #parentsarehypocrites.
'Parents owe children for bringing them joy, not vice versa'
Raphael also tried spreading his message through YouTube. In a video, he said, "Your parents are two people at the age of 20-25 who just wanted a good night together and then they had you." According to him, parents owe children for bringing them joy and not vice versa. "You must love them if you feel like loving them," he says.
