Ayodhya: Man arrested for raping seven cows at cattle shelter
In a shocking and horrifying incident, a man has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya for allegedly raping as many as seven cows at a cattle shelter. The accused, identified as Rajkumar who hails from Nawabganj's Gonda, reportedly used to visit the cattle shelter frequently. The incident came to light after Rajkumar was seen raping the cows in the CCTV camera footage. Here's more.
Accused was caught red-handedly and thrashed brutally
At the shelter being run by Kartaliya Baba Ashram, volunteers earlier discovered CCTV footage in which a man was seen raping cows. After this, they kept a close watch on the shelter. However, Rajkumar returned to the shelter earlier in May and tried to rape the cows again. This time, volunteers caught him red-handedly and thrashed him; he was later handed over to police.

"The CCTV footage shows the man doing dastardly acts with seven cows, one by one. We have caught him and brought to the police station. The act has left us distraught, we are unable to understand this," said Ramdas, a priest at Kartaliya Baba Ashram.
Rajkumar claims he doesn't remember anything as he was drunk
Rajkumar, however, claimed he doesn't remember raping the cows as he was drunk at the time, according to India Today's report. The accused said he only remembers being thrashed by the volunteers and the policemen who arrested him. He was arrested and booked under IPC Sections 376 and 511, corresponding to charges of animal cruelty, said Ayodhya Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jogendra Kumar.
'I was drunk, I don't know what I did': Rajkumar
"I was drunk, I don't know what I did, I only remember that I was beaten by both, people who caught me and the police," Rajkumar said. This is not the first case of rape of animals that has come to light. Last year, in July, eight men had allegedly gang-raped and killed a pregnant goat in Haryana's Mewat, sparking massive controversy and outrage.
