Noida: Cancer patient kills wife for refusing him sex
A 40-year-old barber in Noida slit his wife's throat as she "refused to engage in sex with him" because his mouth cancer had left a hole in his cheek, police said. Since the crime on July 11, Ajay, the murderer, had been absconding; he was finally nabbed yesterday. The couple, who was married for 17 years, had a 16-year-old daughter and an eight-year-old son.
Mamta was staying with her brother to look for jobs
The crime took place on July 11 in 36-year-old Mamta Devi's brother Rahul's house in Chhijarsi village. Mamta, who lived in Lalitpur (UP) with her husband and children, had moved to Rahul's house in Noida 20 days ago to look for a job, he said. On July 10, Ajay arrived unannounced at his brother-in-law's place, reportedly after Rahul promised he'd take him to AIIMS the next day.
A fight ensued, and Ajay slit Mamta's throat
Early the next day, a fight broke out after Mamta refused him sex due to his medical condition, Ajay told police. "He also told us he suspected she was cheating on him as she hadn't been physically intimate with him for several months," said SI Sanat Kumar Mishra, Chhijarsi outpost in-charge. In the commotion, he slit her throat with a knife, then fled.
Mamta was trying to find job to help husband: Brother
The crime was discovered by Rahul, who was in the house at the time. "Ajay had developed cancer last year and his condition had worsened in the past 6-7 months...Mamta (wanted) to find job so she could financially support his treatment," Rahul said. He added she had recently found work in a sewing company in Chhijarsi. Ajay has now been booked for murder.
