Man kills 2 children over poor grades, dies by suicide
What's the story
In a heartbreaking incident from the Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh, a 35-year-old assistant accountant with an Indian oil firm allegedly killed his two sons due to poor performance in studies.
He drowned his seven- and six-year-olds upside down in separate buckets of water, then hanged himself from the ceiling fan of his bedroom.
Sarpavaram police inspector B Peddiraju shared details of the case.
Incident details
The man attended Holi party with family
The man had moved to the Kakinada district with his wife and two sons, who were in upper kindergarten (UKG) and Class 1 respectively.
On the fateful day, he took his family to an office Holi party. He asked his wife to stay there while he took the kids for uniform measurements.
However, when he didn't return after a long time and failed to answer phone calls, she went home with some of his colleagues where they discovered the bodies.
Investigation
Police found a suicide note
The police were informed, who then booked a case of suspicious death and sent the bodies for postmortem to Kakinada government hospital.
A suicide note was recovered from their house, where he had expressed his concerns about his sons' studies, and apprehension that they might not handle future academic pressures.
Peddiraju quoted the man's brother saying he was not financially troubled. He was well-off and had a government job.
