Man found hanging; now video of daughters beating him surfaces
What's the story
A shocking video has emerged on social media, showing a father being beaten up by his daughters, while their mother helps them.
The video surfaced days after the man was found hanging in his room.
Senior police officer Dipali Chandoriya said the body of Harendra Maurya, an electrician and father of four from Madhya Pradesh's Morena district, has been sent for autopsy to check if he died by suicide or foul play was involved.
Incident
Family disputes and tragic death
Neighbors and his relatives testified that he often quarreled with his wife while he was alive.
On March 1, he celebrated his two daughters' weddings. But after the ceremony, his wife insisted on going away and returning to her parents.
Hurt, Maurya locked himself in a room. His family went looking for him when he didn't come home, and they found him hanging. He was taken to the hospital right away, but they declared him dead.
Dispute
Controversy surrounds Maurya's death
After Maurya's death, neighbors suspected he might have committed suicide over continuous family quarrels. But his in-laws alleged his father and brother were responsible for his death.
Amid all these contradictory claims, a video surfaced of Maurya's daughters beating him.
In the video, Harendra's daughters beat him with a stick while he yells in agony. His young son tries to stop his sister at one point, but she threatens to beat him up as well.
Inquiry
Police investigation and autopsy
Senior police officer Chandoriya said the body has been sent for autopsy to Gwalior Medical College, and action would be decided according to the report.
"We got information that a man has died by suicide. A preliminary probe has pointed to family disputes," she said.
"We have sent the body for post-mortem and we will probe all the facts that come to the fore."
