CP victim saw molester's face, now fears for her life
What's the story
Three days ago, a man allegedly groped a woman and masturbated in front of her in broad daylight on a terrace in Delhi's Connaught Place.
But her trauma has just begun. The 32-year-old victim says she is living in fear of her life, since she saw his face clearly and could help in identification.
The crime was disturbing for many other reasons, she says.
Case
What happened?
At 10am on November 30, the woman, who works in a CP office, went up to the terrace. CCTV footage showed a man (face covered) following her.
He then kept staring at her. When she tried to leave, he blocked her, groped her and masturbated.
He had also bolted the door.
She screamed. Then he snatched her mobile and escaped via the adjoining terrace.
Factors
He seemed 'educated', knew the area well, crime looked planned
The woman says it is scary that he seemed "educated" and the crime "planned": he reportedly abused her in English.
Moreover, "the way he jumped over to the neighboring terrace and escaped swiftly, it was clear he knew the place".
"If he could follow me all the way to the terrace, bolt the door and sexually abuse me, he could have done anything."
Status
Police still far from arrest despite detailed description of accused
Over 72 hours after the crime, police have been unable to nab the molester despite her describing his features in detail.
They claimed "hazy" CCTV footage hindered identification. "But we have a broad idea of how he looks," said DCP BK Singh.
Till cops catch him, the woman has "requested a colleague-friend to be by my side when I come to work and leave".
